These are characters who are important to the main plot of this site. Those that require the most activity and attention are at the top and they descend from there. Green names are already on Voldemort's side, light blue names are on Dumbledore's side, and red names are either neutral or have nothing to do with either side. They can also switch! For example, when Hermione and Ron switch sides after hearing Harry's story on the train to Hogwarts, so will their name colors.
These characters are up for claiming! Please read their summaries carefully. If you see a character you would like to play, you may apply for them in the Wanted Ad section of the site. You also may build up a minor canon character or make an OC and have them become important to this plot. They will then be added here. This is NOT a full canon list; it is a list of only the current characters who are part of the Voldemort vs. Dumbledore war. Thank you!
VOLDEMORT (Taken by Amanda) - Tom Riddle always knew that there was more to Albus Dumbledore than met the eye. He knew the older man was hiding a lot underneath his jolly exterior, and he vowed to find out what it was. He never trusted that man, not even when he freed Tom from the confines of that awful orphanage. He did have Dumbledore to thank for his schooling and knowledge of magic, but that was all. Over the years, he discovered more and more about the man by counter-manipulation but they were both so skilled at it that they came to standstills constantly. Neither of them willing to budge, neither willing to back down. Then Tom had an epiphany. Instead of trying to pry information out of the professor by keeping his distance, he should get closer. Make the old man trust him. Suck up to him. When he did this, he felt like the world opened up to him. When Tom graduated, he finally had enough information and he knew that he had to overthrow this man. Albus Dumbledore was a bigot. He preached equality, but he despised 'dirty blood'. He despised weakness that he described as any blood tainted by muggle blood or creature blood and he despised blood traitors - anyone who defended those who were impure.
Tom slowly gathered a group of supporters who believed in his cause and wished to eradicate Dumbledore for what he was doing - turning everyone against each other while manipulating them all into thinking he was Merlin's greatest gift to the world. Dumbledore's greatest ambition was to eradicate all dirty blood. The killings began long before Tom graduated from Hogwarts, but then he found out who was behind them. Tom's greatest ambition was to overthrow that man and out him to everyone, but it would be a long and treacherous road, especially when Dumbledore found out. Tom stood up to him and threatened to hand over his memories to the Ministry, but Albus squashed that by blaming the muggle and muggle-born murders on a rising evil named Tom Riddle. Because of his influence on the world, the people quickly came to fear that name and it was put on the Public Enemy list. Tom was forced to go underground, his requests of formal hearings denied. It did not matter that the aurors had no proof; they instantly believed Albus. Tom was even given a new name - Lord Voldemort, dubbed by Dumbledore and made from the letters of Tom Marvolo Riddle. The professor wanted to give Tom a dangerous-sounding name to scare the public more, and it worked. Tom accepted it gladly and wore it with pride.
Voldemort had a large group of followers by that time and they continued to recruit and 'turn' people, showing them what was really going on. Eventually, Lily Evans and James Potter made their way in after much persuasion from Severus Snape after they graduated. Lily married James and became pregnant. And then came the prophecy, which Dumbledore rubbed in Tom's nose after he requested a meeting. Tom was devastated. He thought he would have to kill Lily and James's baby. He knew prophecies could change, but it was rare. Very rare. He told the couple about it and Lily begged him to spare her son's life. He agreed to. He told them to move away, appoint a Secret Keeper, preferably Sirius Black, and keep that information from both Tom and Albus. They did as he suggested, but Peter Pettigrew, another member of the 'Death Eaters', convinced them to change the Secret Keeper to himself. He argued that Dumbledore would never suspect him. They hesitantly did so, not knowing that Pettigrew was a double agent working for Dumbledore.
Voldemort was framed for the murder of Lily and James and the attempted murder of Harry. Even though Dumbledore was the one who killed them. Even though Dumbledore was the one who picked up baby Harry and used him as a shield to block the killing curse Voldemort sent his way, which rebounded and destroyed Voldemort's body. Luckily, Tom's Hogwarts potions professor Horace Slughorn told him about horcruxes, of which he made six. Six that he knew of; Harry was unintentionally turned into one that night.
Ten agonizing years later, Voldemort met Harry again from the back of Quirinus Quirrill's head. Then again the next year as a memory in one of his horcruxes, the diary Lucius Malfoy gave Ginny Weasley in an attempt to kill Harry. Two years later, Barty Crouch Jr. got Harry to compete in the triwizard tournament so that he could be lured to the graveyard where Tom's father was buried so Tom could get another body with the help of Harry's blood. Even though Tom had not meant to kill Harry when he was a baby, his curse did hit Harry and activated Lily's protection magic, making it so that Tom could never touch Harry again. Thankfully, Tom was able to find a way around that by using Harry's blood and creating a new body. He allowed Peter Pettigrew to help because he wanted this to get back to Dumbledore, even though he knew Severus would also have to report back.
This brings Voldemort to where he is today, changing his mind about killing Harry and inducting him into the real light side.
ALBUS DUMBLEDORE - A complex and evil character who has manipulated the entire wizarding world into believing that he is the good guy. He framed Tom Riddle for all of his own misdeeds and even coined the name Lord Voldemort to make Tom seem more dangerous. Albus and Tom have been feuding ever since Tom graduated from Hogwarts, taking the truth about Dumbledore with him and starting the Death Eaters. Whoever takes on Albus Dumbledore will need to be active, conniving, and creative with this role. You can take off with it and do whatever you please! Just please keep it within reason. Albus is to remain a manipulative, conniving, lying, pureblood supremacist but other than that, do what you will! I won't write a history for him because I am leaving that up to the writer who takes him.
SEVERUS SNAPE (taken by Amanda) - When Severus called his best friend Lily a mudblood in their fifth year, he could not figure out why he did it. It felt as if it was not himself speaking, but someone speaking for him through his body. He fled to the boy's bathroom and Remus Lupin found him, believing the story that Severus was too distraught to keep inside. They became friends and began a rocky and secret romance, but Severus fell into a downward spiral of depression and self loathing, particularly because his mother killed herself and he lost his best friend all within the same year. This was when he befriended Lucius Malfoy, who pulled him out of his slump and took him to a man named Tom Riddle, also known as Lord Voldemort. Severus had heard the names whispered throughout Slytherin house. This was the man Lily was afraid he would turn to. After he explained his situation and heard Voldemort's response, how could he not? Voldemort was sure that Albus Dumbledore used legilimency on Severus and forced him to call Lily the hated word. After much contemplation, Severus joined Voldemort and became a Death Eater after graduation. Also after graduation, and many attempts to apologize to Lily, Severus finally got his break. With the help of Remus, Lily finally listened, even to what Severus had to say about Voldemort and Dumbledore. She saw reason and reality, and she, too, turned to Voldemort. Eventually, she was able to convince James, Sirius, and Peter to as well.
All was wonderful for a few years until he overheard a prophecy told to Dumbledore by Sybil Trelawney in the Hog's Head Inn. He told Voldemort, who immediately knew it was about Lily's unborn child, who was due to be born at the time the prophecy stated. Needless to say, he refused to do anything about it because prophecies can be changed, and Lily was a friend. He instructed Severus to become a spy and gain Dumbledore's trust. Then Lily and James were murdered. The whole world thought it was by Voldemort, but Severus knew the truth. Remus, however, would not listen. He believed Dumbledore and left Severus and the Death Eaters, going into hiding and becoming an Order member. Severus had to pretend that he also believed the headmaster, and he, too, became part of the Order. Years later, they crossed paths again at school. Severus made Remus Wolfsbane potion for the duration of the year, and then they parted again, barely speaking at Order meetings. Now that Harry knows the truth, Severus hopes to bring Remus back over to the Death Eaters and see the real truth.
SCYLLA MORAVAL/AURORA RIDDLE (Taken by Cass) - Voldemort's daughter, but this information is currently unknown to everyone but Albus Dumbledore, who killed her mother and kidnapped her when she was one year old. Her mother was Kendra Dumbledore, Albus's own daughter named after his mother. Kendra and Tom fell in love twenty-five years ago. Two years later, Aurora was born. When she was kidnapped, she was given to a pureblood family, the Moravals, for them to raise her in exchange for Dumbledore's protection and induction into his secret Order. They knew she wasn't pure blooded but not who her parents were. They raised her, but she did not have a wonderful childhood. They were not loving, and were sometimes cruel. She wears a gold necklace with the symbol of the Deathly Hallows, something Tom gave her when she was born. She thinks her father gave it to her and wears it every day, even though he has been cruel to her for the entirety of her life.
She attended Hogwarts in Ravenclaw house and became a well known magical botanist. She is now back at Hogwarts to learn from Severus Snape, as she needs to further her knowledge in potions to achieve her goal.
DRACO MALFOY (Taken by Cass) - Draco and his family have always been part of the Death Eaters, knowing the real light side and the falsities of Dumbledore's claims. However, Albus has the Malfoy family in a vice grip; to keep them in line, he threatens them periodically with reminding them of what he did to Lily and James Potter.
HARRY POTTER (Taken by Amanda) - Harry has been verbally and physically abused by his uncle for the entirety of his life. Recently, it has become unbearable. The beatings got worse because Vernon found out that Harry is gay. Not only does Vernon despise and fear magic, he hates homosexuality and views it as the utmost sin. They had one last fight before Dumbledore found Harry at King's Cross and took him to see Slughorn. This last fight was the worst of them all because Harry finally fought back. He spewed everything he hated about Vernon, something he had never done before. His uncle lost it. Harry did not make it to the Weasley's house. He escaped but ran into Severus Snape, who took him to the Prince Manor where Voldemort was called in to heal him. Harry learned the real truth about Voldemort and Dumbledore, and joined the Dark Lord's side while agreeing to go back to Hogwarts to be a double agent like Severus.
Harry has been silent about his abuse, and it is up to the person who takes this role to decide whether he reveals it to Ron and Hermione. Draco knows because he was there when Harry was brought in, half conscious.
PANSY PARKINSON (Taken by Leela) - Pansy is a spirited Slytherin who has been on Voldemort's side since she was born, as her family has known the truth for many years. Her best friends are Draco and Lavender. There is a possibility of Harry becoming one of her best friends once he and Draco start a relationship. Draco likes to call her the Queen of Slytherin.
BELLATRIX LESTRANGE - One of Voldemort's most loyal Death Eaters. She created the illusion of killing Sirius in the Department of Mysteries, but in reality, saved his life and brought him back to Prince Manor where Voldemort showed up and explained. She is chaotic and no one quite knows who she truly loves, other than the obvious Narcissa Malfoy. Bella dotes on Cissa.
SIRIUS BLACK - Yes! But shhhh... Sirius was not killed in the battle at the Department of Mysteries, though the entire world believes he was. What really happened was an illusion put in place by Bellatrix Lestrange. Sirius did not want to fake his own death, but it was important that Dumbledore believed it so that he would make more mistakes and be more careless after Sirius was taken out of the picture. Sirius, however, did not know this was happening until he was transported to Severus Snape's manor and it was explained to him. He did break away from Voldemort and joined Dumbledore when he realized in Harry's third year after his breakout from Azkaban that Voldemort was really trying to kill Harry. He was furious that Tom would go back on his word to Lily about protecting her son. However, he listened to Tom when he came back from that battle to explain everything to Sirius. He knew Tom was right about Dumbledore, but all he cared about was Harry. Prophecies can change, and he insisted on that. Voldemort agreed, and told him that if Harry could be swayed from Dumbledore's brainwashing, then he would not kill him. But, if he could not be swayed, Voldemort would not hesitate to kill him for the greater good. They agreed to keep Sirius hidden from the world, Tom's word being enough to calm him down. He knew Harry would see reason if given the chance.
REMUS LUPIN (Taken by Leela) - Character still in development.
NYMPHADORA TONKS - A fun-loving, hard-working Hufflepuff grad in a relationship with Remus Lupin. Eventually they discover that Sirius is still alive and they join the Death Eaters after learning the truth about Dumbledore. Remus and Severus had a relationship in the past that ended when Remus believed that Voldemort killed Lily and James, and that Severus had a hand in it. They have an awkward reunion, apology, and a rekindling so to speak. Remus will break up with Tonks.
HERMIONE GRANGER - A headstrong and intelligent witch, Hermione is the brains of her group. Her best friends are Harry and Ron, who she would follow to the ends of the Earth. She is the first to believe Harry's summer story and agrees to join Voldemort.
RON WEASLEY - Stubborn but kind and loving, Ron is a loyal friend. His best friends are Harry and Hermione.
LUNA LOVEGOOD - Luna and her father have been Voldemort supporters ever since Tom Riddle formed his group. Luna is a free spirit and does, says, and wears whatever she wants. She is ecstatic when Harry joins the Death Eaters.
GINNY WEASLEY (taken by Amanda) - A fiery redhead and the only Weasley girl. Feisty, fierce, and loyal, she is a powerful friend to have on your side.
PETER PETTIGREW - A double agent who answers to Albus Dumbledore. He convinced Lily and James Potter to make him their secret keeper because Dumbledore wouldn't suspect him, so that he could get the Hogwarts professor to their house to murder them and pin the blame on Voldemort.
MINERVA MCGONAGALL - 100% up for interpretation. She currently has no details on her importance, but she is Dumbledore's closest friend at this point and it is up to you what she does - sticks with him even if she sees the truth, or joins Voldemort. For now, her name will remain blue.
DUDLEY DURSLEY - Like Harry, Dudley is also a victim of Vernon's abuse. He has helped sneak Harry meals in the last few years once he grew up a little and stopped acting out from his frustrations at home. He is an obscurial who survived past the average age and has some control over his obscurus. He will eventually be contacted by Voldemort and his family will be brought to Malfoy Manor for judgement. Harry spares Dudley and Petunia, but condemns Vernon. Voldemort brings in Credence Barebone, one of the only few obscurials to survive childhood, to train him in controlling his obscurus.
PETUNIA DURSLEY - A victim of Vernon Dursley's abuse. She has helped Harry over the years minimally, as Vernon kept a close watch on her and Dudley. When she and her family are brought in front of Voldemort, she and her son are pardoned. She does not currently have a large role, but as with every other character, that is up for change.
VERNON DURSLEY - This character will most likely be an NPC (non-playable character) as he only exists in a few scenes and for the sole purpose to provide plot, unless someone really wants to develop him.
